CINCINNATI MAY FESTIVAL: LIVE FROM NEW YORK

The Cincinnati May Festival and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Friday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. EST as part of the prestigious Spring for Music festival. A live listening event will take place in Washington Park in Over-the-Rhine for fans back home.
WQXR (New York’s classical music station) will be broadcasting the performance live on radio and streaming through their website. Radio stations around the country are also able to pick up the feed and broadcast the program locally. Cincinnati’s WGUC will broadcast the program locally with an HD Radio digital signal. Listeners will also be able to tune in via their radio, computer, tablet or cell phone and use the WGUC iPhone and Android app as well as the iHeart Radio app.
The feed will also be available in the Washington Park sound system, courtesy of WGUC and Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC). From 5-7 p.m. WGUC will play music by the CSO and May Festival. A pre-show will air from 7-7:30 p.m. WGUC on-air personality Mark Perzel will provide a special live introduction to the Carnegie Hall concert for the crowd assembled at Washington Park. Concessions will be available beginning at 5 p.m. and food trucks will also be available at the park.
The May Festival and CSO will perform John Adams’ Harmonium as well as R. Nathaniel Dett’s The Ordering of Moses. The same concert program will be performed at Music Hall in Cincinnati on Wednesday, May 7 as the opening night of the 2014 May Festival Season.
