About the Event: Join us for beer, cocktails and interactive programs both you and your canine companion are sure to love. We’ll also have plenty of food from U Lucky Dawg and dog treats from PetCakes to go around!

Activity Schedule:

Thursday, April 3: “Are We Having Fun Yet?”
Leader: Puppy Prep School
Program: An Observational Seminar on Dog Park Dynamics. Dogs are experts in subtle communication yet often we humans either see their physical cues too late or miss them altogether. Trainer Elizabeth Gaul, owner of Puppy Prep School, will share observations and offer simple strategies – as we watch dogs in real time – for encouraging pleasant and safe interactions among playgroups. Participants will learn tips on reading dogs’ body language, when and how to intervene, how to spot signs of trouble and discuss ways in which owner participation can affect a positive dog park experience for their dogs.

Thursday, April 10: Socialization: Your Dog & You
Leader: Underdog K9 Academy
Program: This seminar will discuss proper socialization with ones dog and effective communication between owner and dog, as well as ways to help transform Cincinnati into a more “Dog-Savvy” city.

Thursday, April 17: Playtime with Kong Toys
Leader: Alice’s Companion Dog Training School, LLC
Program: Does your dog get into trouble because he/she is bored, lonely or anxious?  Find out how to improve your pet’s behavior through behavior modification using toys.  Learn how to control separation anxiety, boredom, digging and kennel training.  Come with your pet’s problem and take home some ideas on how to fix the problem.  Fixing bad behavior can make both you and your pet happy.

Thursday, April 24: Therapy Dogs
Leader: Alice’s Companion Dog Training School, LLC
Program:  Therapy Dogs and the Canine Good Citizen Test: Have you wondered what a THERAPY DOG does and how they get to be Therapy Dogs?  Come meet two therapy dogs and talk to their handlers.  Find out what they do, how they differ from assistance dogs and what a dog/handler team has to do to be certified as Therapy Dog.  Also, learn about the AKC Canine Good Citizen program – the first step to becoming a Therapy Dog.
