OTR Night at the CSO: Friday, May 3 starting at 6 pm in Washington Park

The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra celebrates our city and our neighborhood!

Join friends and neighbors for pre- and post-concert fun in Washington Park. Sandwiched in the middle is an incredible concert with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in Music Hall! Tickets for the concert start at $10. Pre- and post-concert fun in Washington Park is free and open to all. CLICK HERE to add the event to your calendar!

Pre-concert – 6-8pm: Food trucks by Night Owl Market in Washington Park, “The Music Ride”  (bicyclists riding around OTR with a musical interlude!), and a Yelp “Name That Tune” booth. There is also a free bike valet if you feel like biking to Music Hall that day.

CSO concert – 8-10 pm: Join us inside Music Hall for a program featuring the work of American composers, including Samuel Barber’s Piano Concerto with famed pianist Garrick Ohlsson, and Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Jennifer Higdon’s All Things Majestic, set to iconic imagery of our city and our neighborhood. Post-concert – 10-11 pm: Free live music in Washington Park with The Young Heirlooms,food trucks by Night Owl Market, and Washington Park concessions will be open. CSO guest artists, conductor Robert Spano and pianist Garrick Ohlsson, as well as a few CSO musicians, will be making an appearance at the event.

This urban arts extravaganza will run from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in our new home at 1100 Race Street, just one block south of Washington Park. Enjoy positive Hip Hop music, thought-provoking poetry, stunning graffiti art and jaw dropping Hip Hop dance performances from some of the most electric, talented young artists from around the city.

The cost of admission is a $10 donation that will help support future programming, as well as current and future youth organization members. Come down and witness the magic of all that Elementz has to offer for yourself!

Each spring, the Over-The-Rhine Chamber of Commerce recognizes outstanding individuals and businesses in Over-the-Rhine during its Annual Meeting and Star Awards Luncheon. This year’s luncheon is Tuesday, April 2 at Music Hall featuring keynote speaker, President Santa Ono, University of Cincinnati.

The OTR Chamber wants to hear from YOU! Nominate an outstanding individual or business that has had a favorable impact on Over-the-Rhine in the past year to be recognized at this year’s luncheon. Aubrey Rose believes that humanity begins in children and their realization of how valuable their actions, words, or even a smile can be toward individual growth and to the everyday well being of the people surrounding them. In memory of Aubrey Rose Hollenkamp, they follow through their mission of carrying out the positive impact she had made on so many people by helping children and families who have also made a positive impact on the people around them.

More about the assistance they offer…

Since 2001, The Aubrey Rose Foundation has organized a children’s educational scholarship program in honor of Aubrey Rose. Aubrey made such a difference in many people’s lives within her three short years here on this earth. To honor her and her achievements, they base their scholarships on both a child’s kindness and their willingness to give back to the local community. Their scholarships are for those students who have a compassionate heart unlike other scholarships that are based on academics or athletic ability.

How to become a recipient…

Interested scholarship applicants must submit an essay to be judged by a panel consisting of the student’s school staff members, Aubrey’s Grandparents, George and Nancy Frondorf, Aubrey’s parents, Jerry and Nancy Hollenkamp and Aubrey’s sister and brother, Carly and Spencer. In 2007, they decided to reward those scholarship recipients and their families with the “Above and Beyond” Award which signifies those that have stayed connected with the foundation and continue to volunteer after their freshman year of school.

Scholarship Reception

The scholarships are given out to the students at their graduation or their awards ceremonies where the parents are invited. This is extremely important piece of our scholarship presentation so that the parents are surprised along with the scholarship recipient to hear their name being recognized for them having a kind-heart.
