NAMING OPPORTUNITIES
Washington Park is a private/public partnership among 3CDC, the City of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Park Board, and the Cincinnati corporate and philanthropic community. This partnership has resulted in the transformation of Washington Park from six acres to an 8-acre urban sanctuary.
The $48 million project was funded with the help of many partners. The City of Cincinnati awarded the project with a $2 million capital grant, a $500,000 grant from the Metropolitan Sewer District and an $11.5 million tax increment financing (TIF) grant. The State of Ohio awarded the project a $2.85 million capital grant and a $5 million State Urban Redevelopment Loan. The Cincinnati Equity Fund (CEF) II made a loan of $4.5 million, and PNC Bank provided over $13 million in equity under the Federal New Market Tax Credits program. Several philanthropic foundations have supported the project through over $1.55 million in grants. These include the Schmidlapp Foundation, the Carol Ann & Ralph V. Haile / U.S. Bank Foundation, the P&G Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, the Humana Foundation, and the Chemed Foundation.
Despite this overwhelming support for the project, we are still $3 million short of the original capital goal. Currently, the local corporate community, through CEF II, has provided a short term line-of-credit to cover the remaining gap until additional funding can be secured. There are still multiple naming opportunities throughout the park. You will find details below on the sections of the park where naming opportunities exist. Any potential partnering grant could be structured over multiple years, with CEF II bridging the term.
The expansion and renovation of Washington Park, completed in July 2012, is a great asset to the City of Cincinnati and the surrounding region.
