Kroger’s Where the Wild Things Play
April 12, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Kids and adults alike will love the stories and songs, art activities and creative movement, “Where the Wild Things Play” at Washington Park. Take a LOOK at some of the fun we had last spring. All activities are led by Cathy Barney, founder and director of Artsy Fartsy Saturdays. Special thanks to our sponsors, Kroger and the Cincinnati Art Museum.
Activity: New leaves emerge from the ground and on the trees. How many greens can blue and yellow make? Use some of that new greenery to stamp and paint.
Activity: Thankful for the essential nourishment rainwater provides, we celebrate with squirt bottles and water color! Mix cloudy greys when all your colors come together. Make a rainbow to peek through.
Theme: Earth (Earth Day is April 22)
Activity: Put your hands in the sand. Squeeze some homemade clay. Make a sculpture with the play dough and then color with crayons on sand paper. Plant a bean to take home and watch new life sprout!
Activity: The farmers have been growing veggies and flowers. Come draw them and maybe draw with them. How have you grown? See how you measure up on our group growth chart.
May 10 (Mother’s Day)
Activity: Mothers and maternal figures care for us non-stop! Show your appreciation with a note and a gift. We will have little items for you to decorate and fun paper for cards.
Activity: After the dark of winter we love to see the light! A few sparklies and a bit of glue make for great sun catchers. Explore shadows with sidewalk chalk and sun print paper.
